Tieri’s Northern & Eastern Firebreak Upgrade.

The Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) will be upgrading our Town's Firebreak on the Northern & Eastern sides of Town. Residents are advised to avoid using these areas for recreational purposes (e.g.: motorcycle riding etc) over the next 14 days as the CHRC will be using a Grader and small dozer during the upgrades of these Firebreaks. ”Mining classroom” gives new meaning to hands-on learning for Tieri State School students

What do you do when you can’t take students to see underground mining equipment in action? Take the equipment to the students, of course. That’s exactly what Glencore’s Oaky Creek coal mining team did recently with Tieri State School. Using Komatsu’s generous offer of their mobile simulator, the Oaky team were able to give students at the central Queensland township a chance to not only see the equipment in action but to drive it themselves!

NOTICE: Hazard reduction burns in Tieri this week.

The Department of Natural Resources and Mines have advised residents of TIERI that hazard reduction burns will be conducted in the local area from 26th August to 28th August 2019. The aim of hazard reduction burns is to reduce the fuel load in the area to protect the town area and infrastructure from wildfire during the upcoming fire season.

Masquerade ball raises $20,000 for local community organisations.

It’s one of the largest events on the social calendar and this year’s Tieri 200 Club Ball was the biggest event-to-date, achieving a complete sell out! Held on the 10th of August, then night went off without a hitch. The masquerade theme really came to life when the attendees began flooding through the front doors with their best gowns on and their mysterious masks fitted.

2019 Capella Rodeo is ramping up to be even bigger and better than ever. The CRCA / ABCRA dual affiliated Rodeo has been running annually since 1976 and will once again incorporate the Trans Tasmin High School Rodeo Event for the 18th year in a row. Enjoy a jam-packed day of entertainment

Jnr Sports Development Program Grant Applications are now open.

Each year GCAA provides up to $250,000 to local sports clubs and associations across Queensland and New South Wales. With grants of up to $7,500 each available to help clubs get more young people involved, or helping them stay involved in a sporting pursuit.
