Giant Laughing Kookaburra on the move to tieri

A handmade laughing kookaburra built in a Queensland front yard during lockdown is stopping people in their tracks with his enormous size and booming laugh. And it is headed to Tieri on the 16th October. The kookaburra, which emits its own iconic laugh, is a passion project for it’s creator Dr. Farvardin Daliri, who used his time in COVID lockdown to build the eight-and-half metre long, and four-and-half metre tall kookaburra. It’s that laugh which has brought joy to so many people who have witnessed the kookaburra flying past on the road, and Dr Farvardin said the kookaburra was all about spreading cheer in the wake of the COVID pandemic.

Hart’s luck returns at Tieri Pro-Am

Tim Hart has won the Glencore Oaky Creek Coal Tieri Pro-Am with a spectacular round of 8-under 65 at Tieri Country Club. The 2019 Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series Order of Merit winner fired five birdies and two eagles on his way to a one-stroke victory over fellow Queenslander Chris Wood.

New Capella State School Marquees in action at Eco Club stall, Capella Community Markets

Capella State School recently purchased 5 new marquees thanks to Glencore’s Oaky Creek Coal Mine Community Grants Program. Beautifully branded with the school name and colours there are three large and two smaller marquees are to be used for outdoor events such as sports days, cross country, under 8’s, community events and much more, with one being a dedicated first aid marquee.
