Central Highlands Regional Council invites the community to come together for NAIDOC Week 2026, with free family-friendly celebrations planned in Emerald to honour the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s national NAIDOC theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks five decades of NAIDOC Week and recognises the generations of Elders, organisers, artists, leaders and communities who have kept culture, connection and truth-telling at the heart of the movement.

EOI now open for Community Members Invited to Join the CHRC Grants Assessment Panel

Expressions of Interest are now open for community members to join the Central Highlands Regional Council’s Community Grants Program Assessment Panel. Council is seeking up to five community representatives to serve a two-year term from September 2026 to March 2028, helping assess grant applications and make funding recommendations that support local community projects across the Central Highlands. Panel members will review and score applications, work collaboratively with fellow panel members, and contribute to decisions that benefit the broader community.
