The Jerky Lady wins award

'HOMEMADE with love' is the philosophy underpinning Catherine Windsor's beef jerky. Made from her house in Tieri, Mrs Windsor's The Jerky Lady Products this year came second place in a national competition called the Mr Chilli Awards. Mrs Windsors said winning silver in the medium - heat beef jerky category justified all the work put into her family business. Read More.

Water supply temporarily switched off in parts of Tieri for upcoming works.

Water supply will be temporarily switched off in parts of Tieri as contractor Goodline completes replacement works on water hydrants and valves. The streets impacted are Cassia Street, Emuapple Street, Banksia Street, Carbeen Street, Wilga Street, Gum Street and part of Talagai Avenue. These works will take place between Monday 6 July and Monday 20 July 2020 with water outages between 10.00 pm – 4.00 am, lasting up to two and a half hours. Households and businesses in this area have been notified via a letter box drop. Please contact council’s customer service centre on 1300 242 686 with further questions or concerns.

Youthinc June/July online school holiday activities

The Central Highlands Youthinc school holiday program is now live for submissions. Exciting competitions including 'The Comedy Pet' photo where you can share your funniest pet photo, a Poetry Slam Video comp where you can write it and read it for your chance to win, an upcycling photo comp showing your before and after pics of your creations, a lip sync/air guitar video comp where you can let your inner star shine plus many more. Standing apart, as one for ANZAC Day.

Tieri residents united for an ANZAC Day unlike any other, paying their respects to veterans by lighting up the dawn with driveway ceremonies. Standing apart, together as they commemorated all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. A sacred day that would normally see locals gather at the War Memorial for the annual ANZAC day ceremony could not be dampened by social distancing. Today, lets honour all past and current servicemen and women and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice with an ode written by Rupert McCall, OAM as a tribute to our diggers to commemorate the landing of the ANZACs at Gallipoli, entitled ‘100 years from now’

Inviting Tieri to light up the dawn this Anzac Day.

When times are tough, Australians have always relied on the distinctive qualities of mateship, humour, ingenuity, courage and endurance to get us through. Known as the ANZAC Spirit, these five qualities have defined Australians ever since the first troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in World War I. Just imagine how special it would be if everyone in Tieri was standing in their driveway at 6am on ANZAC Day, united in spirit to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for the lifestyle we enjoy today.

Peak Downs JRL training & carnivals postponed until 1st June 2020

Amidst all the information and community safety rules regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic, please rest assured that all decisions are made with the health and safety of our players, supporters and staff as our top priority. It is for this reason that, upon advice and directive from QRL (our governing body) we have cancelled all training sessions, carnivals and postponed the commencement of our 2020 season. The situation is changing rapidly with new developments coming to light day to day- however we are confident that we should be cleared to resume all Community League activity on June 1st 2020.

Intelligent mining trials at Oaky Creek

CSIRO engineers have developed a world first "flameproof" 3D laser scanning device that can "see things our eyes cannot" by transmitting a full panoramic view of an underground coal mine in real time. Called the ExScan, the device is set to revolutionise the industry, allowing miners to leave the coal face and manage longwall operations remotely from a control centre above ground. This form of "intelligent mining" is currently being trialled by Glencore at its Oaky Creek mine site.
