Tieri residents asked to limit water consumption

Tieri residents are asked to limit their water consumption between Wednesday 28th October and Friday 30th October to ensure that town water levels do not drop to low levels when upcoming urgent water filter rectification works are being carried out at the Tieri Water Treatment Plant.

Giant Laughing Kookaburra on the move to tieri

A handmade laughing kookaburra built in a Queensland front yard during lockdown is stopping people in their tracks with his enormous size and booming laugh. And it is headed to Tieri on the 16th October. The kookaburra, which emits its own iconic laugh, is a passion project for it’s creator Dr. Farvardin Daliri, who used his time in COVID lockdown to build the eight-and-half metre long, and four-and-half metre tall kookaburra. It’s that laugh which has brought joy to so many people who have witnessed the kookaburra flying past on the road, and Dr Farvardin said the kookaburra was all about spreading cheer in the wake of the COVID pandemic.

Aquatic Centre Opens for Spring

As the weather starts to heat up and it's time to enjoy the Tieri sunshine and relax by the community pool. Flying Skin Cancer Doctor to visit Tieri Monday 14th September

Monday 14th September The Flying Skin Cancer Doctor provides comprehensive skin cancer services to locals in rural and remote regions of Australia by bringing a regular spot screening and treatment service closer to the community. Visiting Tieri on Monday 14th September 2020 Founded by Dr Alan Jones, Skin cancer physician from Brisbane who has a special interest in rural medicine and skin cancer treatment the Skin Cancer Clinic will have highly skilled professionals to perform a comprehensive skin cancer checks and provide treatment of any suspicious lesions.

New Capella State School Marquees in action at Eco Club stall, Capella Community Markets

Capella State School recently purchased 5 new marquees thanks to Glencore’s Oaky Creek Coal Mine Community Grants Program. Beautifully branded with the school name and colours there are three large and two smaller marquees are to be used for outdoor events such as sports days, cross country, under 8’s, community events and much more, with one being a dedicated first aid marquee.

The Jerky Lady wins award

'HOMEMADE with love' is the philosophy underpinning Catherine Windsor's beef jerky. Made from her house in Tieri, Mrs Windsor's The Jerky Lady Products this year came second place in a national competition called the Mr Chilli Awards. Mrs Windsors said winning silver in the medium - heat beef jerky category justified all the work put into her family business. Read More.

Water supply temporarily switched off in parts of Tieri for upcoming works.

Water supply will be temporarily switched off in parts of Tieri as contractor Goodline completes replacement works on water hydrants and valves. The streets impacted are Cassia Street, Emuapple Street, Banksia Street, Carbeen Street, Wilga Street, Gum Street and part of Talagai Avenue. These works will take place between Monday 6 July and Monday 20 July 2020 with water outages between 10.00 pm – 4.00 am, lasting up to two and a half hours. Households and businesses in this area have been notified via a letter box drop. Please contact council’s customer service centre on 1300 242 686 with further questions or concerns.
