Oaky Creek team takes on Movember

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health, and this Movember we’re joining them. Together we can make a difference for men’s health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Help us stop men dying too young.

Michael McGrath, along with Jarred Summerville, Shay Martin & Christopher Wason are keen to kick off Movember 2024, raising funds and awareness this November for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives.

Fundraising for Movember since 2015
Both my grandfathers died of complications from undetected prostate cancer. I have lost more than 10 mates in my lifetime due to depression and other mental illness. I am here to help, motivate, educate, and raise money for research, but most of all; be a mate for anyone – boy or girl -when they need someone to talk too.

I work in underground coal. So I have to be clean shaven to properly use the self rescue devices. This gave me an opportunity to have a break. It also gave all my wonderful supporters and donators a break. But the time has come to get back on the fundraiser trail. If I reach my fundraising goal of $3000 I will shave all my head leaving only the Movember Mo logo on the back of my head. Not quite as risque as previous years, but I shall wear it until it grows out, and it will make for a talking piece to start discussions about men’s physical and mental health. Who knows, it may set a trend for others to follow.
