Council Welcomes Amanda Phillott as its New Councillor

Following the region’s by-election on Saturday, 16 May 2026, council has welcomed Amanda Phillott as its newest councillor. 

Mayor Janice Moriarty said: “The by-election has provided the community with the opportunity to have their say on who they would like to represent them at the council table. 

“I would like to congratulate Amanda on being the successful candidate and welcome her to council. We look forward to working collaboratively with our newest councillor to continue delivering essential services to the community and progressing key projects across the region.” 

Council also acknowledged and thanked the other candidates who stood in the by-election, namely:
• Bronwyn Dalton
• Edward Shaw
• Christine Wilson
• Sharyn Heiskari 

“Standing for council is a significant commitment to community service, and each candidate demonstrated a willingness to represent and advocate for the Central Highlands community,” the Mayor said. 

Once sworn in, Amanda Phillott will serve until the next council election in 2028.
