CHRC Community Visioning Project

What do you love about the Central Highlands? Where do you see our community going? How do we get there and what needs to change?

These are just some of the big questions the Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) is calling on the community to help tackle in its ‘Your Region, Your Vision’ project.

The project aims to understand the wants and needs of the community and guide planning for the next 20 years, ultimately creating an overarching 2043 Vision for the Central Highlands, and a vision for each of the 13 communities within the region.

In a media release launching the project, Mayor Kerry Hayes says: No idea is too big or small…we need diverse and creative ideas to solve matters that are important to the region…how we attract more families to the region, how we will plan housing for new residents, what new industries can we attract, what are the jobs of the future, what are the best kept secrets of our towns that we can share with the world – anything that will help make the Central Highlands a vibrant and prosperous region.”

Council is calling for residents, workers and visitors to submit their ideas, from ‘arts groups and sporting clubs, youth and senior citizens, charities and religious congregations, school students and apprentices, Indigenous communities, environmental groups, farmers and industry, businesses large and small, investors and visitors’.
