Get set for the Gemfields Festival

The Sapphire Gemfields are once again ready to dazzle this August as the quintessentially unique destination, located just a short distance from Emerald, comes to life for the inaugural Gemfields Festival. Kicking off on Saturday 6th August, the week of community celebration and enga’GEM’ent will welcome locals and visitors from far and wide to take part in a suite of exciting events that showcase this diverse and distinctive part of the world. From family fun days, high teas, and fossicking, to workshops, mine showcases, historic walks, a fancy-dress ball and much more, the arran’GEM’ent of festivities stretching across the townships of Rubyvale, Sapphire, Anakie and Willows have something appealing to everyone of all ages and abilities.

The new record for balancing a tractor on the big see-saw is seven seconds, can this be beaten? Enjoy the big screen while sitting in the renovated canvas sling seating of the C.Q. Cinema - the only one of its kind in Central Queensland. Marvel at the restored, all hardwood 'Peak Downs' station homestead plus 16 other buildings and their exhibits displaying over 5000 items.

2022 Capella Rodeo – Saturday 27th August

2022 Capella Rodeo is ramping up to be even bigger and better than ever. Enjoy a jam-packed day of entertainment with events on the day include Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, Steer wrestling and more. After the official events, there will be music by Dan Roberts DJ music and the bar will be open until late.

CHRC Community Grants Program – Round Two

Local organisations are invited to apply for the Central Highlands Regional Council Community Grants to fund programs and/or equipment/facilities in Community Assistance (up to $5,000), Sport and Recreation (up to $5,000) and Community Improvement (up to $20,000).
