As the sun rose on April 25th, Tieri locals gathered to commemorate ANZAC Day with a sombre and respectful dawn service held at Tieri’s Cenotaph.
The parkland surrounding the Cenotaph was lined with crosses to remember those that who have lost their lives and as the bugle played the Last Post a minutes silence was observed to honour all past and current servicemen and women and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Following the dawn service attendees raised nearly $300 from gold coin donations at the breakfast table for Legacy.
This was followed later in the morning by a march from the Tieri State School to the Cenotaph for the morning memorial service with local students and representatives of Emergency Services participating and laying wreaths.
The day concluded with a 3-person Ambrose golf competition and a special ANZAC Day lunch and Games of two-up and other activities held at the Tieri Golf Club raised a further $1,600 for Legacy. Monies raised on the day was donated to the Clermont RSL.
