Located in Tieri’s Town Centre, across from Foodworks, Tieri Medical Practice is a well known fixture in our community. The practice is continually looking for ways to meet the needs of Tieri and, as such, is excited to officially welcome a new permanent Physiotherapist on board.
Alex Jaquet began working at the clinic in January, having moved to Tieri from the coastal town of Yeppoon with his partner, and dog.
“Our last few months have been quite challenging, moving all our belongings, getting settled into work and Uni, and introducing ourselves within the community,” reflects Alex.
We’ve noticed that Tieri is home to a hard-working, tight-knit community. Everyone we’ve met so far has been helpful and very approachable. We’ve been able to make
a great group of friends through in-town social events like weekly ultimate frisbee held on Mondays and Friday afternoon golf where afterwards everyone digs into a few shandies, watches the footy on the big screen and Oaky Creek has been kind enough to supply a BBQ.”
Alex is well-versed in providing musculoskeletal, sports, cardiorespiratory, and occupational rehabilitation and treatment. He is currently studying a Masters of Ergonomics, Safety and Health in pursuit of becoming an APA-titled Physiotherapist.
The addition of a permanent Physiotherapist sees the clinic expand its name to Tieri Medical Practice and Physiotherapy. Alex joins the clinic’s full-time General Practitioner and nurse, Yvette Watts. Together, they provide the following services to the people of Tieri:
• Women’s Health Checks including pap smears, family planning
and prenatal and postnatal care
• Full routine skin checks
• Immunisations for travel and general protection
• Hearing and lung function tests
• Occupational functional capacity evaluations
• Pathology
• Physiotherapy (musculoskeletal, sports, cardiorespiratory, and
occupational rehabilitation)
• Instant drug and alcohol screens
“The entire team truly values the need for excellent service and guarantees continual personal care,” says Alex.
We asked Alex for his ‘top tips’ to staying fit and healthy over the winter period:
1. Keep active every day with at least 30-minutes of moderate
intensity exercise, such as a brisk walk, yoga, step-ups or
participating in any of the town sports that are available
2. Eat a well-balanced diet with dishes like soups, stews and
curries that are rich in vegetables and legumes
3. Rug up with warm clothing
4. Head into Tieri Medical to receive your FREE flu vaccination to
stay on top of this nasty flu season.
Tieri Medical Practice and Physiotherapy is open for your convenience on Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 9:30am to 1pm. They are closed for all public holidays.
They offer bulk billing for children under 16, pensioners and
health care cardholders.
