New Team Members at Tieri Aquatic Centre

2 Aug 2026

Tieri Aquatic Centre is currently closed for the winter but will reopen its doors again in mid-late August, and when it does, there’ll be some new faces at the pool.

Lifeguards, Belynda ‘Bells’ Perkins, Briar Blake, Courtney Cowan, and Jacinta Watts will be joined by newly qualified lifeguard, Emma Angel. Bill Lines and Keeley Stewart will join Kayley Christensen and Mackenzie Lines as junior lifeguards.

“After a few changes at the pool, it’s great to have a full contingent on board again,” says Bells.

“When your team is great, it makes work a place you really want to come to. We may be enjoying some downtime at the moment, but we’re all super excited to welcome everyone back to the pool in the spring.”

In addition to being lifeguards, Belynda, Jacinta, Courtney and Kayley are also Learn 2 Swim instructors. “Briar is currently training up as well and will be all set to go in Term 4 when we re-open,” says Bells.

Learn 2 Swim

The Learn 2 Swim program will kick off with an intensive program running from 28th September to 2nd October. The standard eight-week Learn 2 Swim program begins on 12th October. Classes run twice a week until 4th December.

“Teaching the Learn 2 Swim program is something I really enjoy. It’s amazing to see kids who come to us scared and unsure of the water, suddenly start to love the pool and often go on to become proficient swimmers.”

To register for Learn 2 Swim, email tieripool@gmail.com or call the pool on 07 49 816 131.

When the pool is open again, the team is keen to remind the community that you can BYO food to cook on the BBQ facilities, or bring a takeaway or a picnic to enjoy on site before or after your swim.

“Just look out for the communal crows!” warns Bells.

Cheaper than a Coffee

General entry to the pool is just $4 per adult, $3.50 per child, and free for under 3s and spectators.

Alternatively, there are plenty of different membership options available, including weekly, monthly, seasonal, or annual passes. You can find details at tieri.com.au/sport/tieri-aquatic-centre.

Don’t forget: If you’re a permanent employee at OCC, you get reimbursement! Speak to your Supervisor or HR to find out more.

Tieri Sharks

Tieri Sharks Swimming Club will be kicking off again in September/October. Club night is on Monday afternoons from 5pm, and there are different race distances – including 12.5m, 25m, 50m and 100m – so there’s an option for everyone, regardless of ability.

“All ages are welcome and you can do it for fun or for the competition. We have four and five year olds jumping in with their noodles and kick boards, getting involved, having a go, gaining confidence and enjoying plenty of laughs too!” explains Bells.
