The Friends of the Capella Cultural Centre were honoured to receive the Australia Day Arts and Cultural Award (North) at the recent ceremony at the Capella Aquatic Centre, awarded by the Central Highlands Regional Council. The Friends have been active since 1993, voluntarily assisting with shows at the cultural centre. Duties include ushering, manning the box office, assisting with setting up for and clearing away after shows, and taking tickets. Over the years funds raised by the group through their volunteer hours have been put back into the Cultural Centre, purchasing equipment items as required.
Upcoming Event: Pop-up Art Exhibition at the Capella Centre
The Friends are also hosting a Pop-Up Art Exhibition at the Capella Centre on Saturday 28 March. Doors open at 6.00 pm and will feature works by local amateur artists. Last year’s event was very successful, with exhibits of many arts and crafts ranging from visual art, metalwork, patchwork and locally produced books. We look forward to seeing what our creative community members have to display this year!
