You are already known around Tieri for Hoppers Diesel and Hire, but now you also run Hybrid Power Australia – can you tell us more about that?

Yes, since 2021 I’ve operated as Hoppers Diesel and Hire in Tieri offering mobile maintenance services as a contractor. Over time, this grew into hire equipment of things like lighting towers and generators.

At the start of 2025, I moved away from rostered contracting to focus 100% on the business and build a new business – that’s Hybrid Power Australia.

Hybrid Power Australia directly imports a range of products of equipment sale and hire.

What type of products does Hybrid Power Australia offer?

We’re able to supply a range of products for both sale and hire.
This includes:

• Diesel generators
• Compressors
• Lighting towers, including diesel, solar and hybrid powered options
• Water pumps
• Fuel cells
• Hybrid generators.

Our hybrid generators are something we’re especially proud to supply. They use a combination of solar, battery storage and a generator to reduce diesel consumption by 95%. They are a fabulous fuel-efficient and low-emission power solution that we think has wide applications across a range of mining, construction and industrial use cases. Our energy efficient range also includes full battery solar and hybrid lighting towers.

We pride ourselves on offering fully serviced and compliant equipment, backed up by 24/7 support. In addition, our hire terms are flexible, with a mix of short-term, long-term and purchase options that can be tailored to customer needs.

Do you still offer maintenance services?

Yes, Hoppers Diesel and Hire continues to be run alongside Hybrid Power Australia. We continue to provide a diesel mechanic field service and operate our workshop on Maywin Drive near the laundry. At the workshop, we carry out servicing and maintenance on anything from light vehicles to heavy earthmoving equipment.

For diesel fitting and maintenance services, we work across Queensland’s Central Highlands, specialising in mining, industrial and commercial environments. 

What can the community expect from your business in 2026?

We’re pretty much a family run business, with myself and my wife the primary employees. But as we continue to grow, we’ll be looking to hire a diesel mechanic during the year.

We’re planning to keep offering a quality range of hire equipment, backed up by great service, and continuing to support local community events and sporting clubs.
