NOTICE: Hazard reduction burns in Tieri this week.

The Department of Natural Resources and Mines have advised residents of TIERI that hazard reduction burns will be conducted in the local area from 26th August to 28th August 2019. The burns  will take place on unallocated State land in the township. The aim of hazard reduction burns is to reduce the fuel load in the area to protect the town area and infrastructure from wildfire during the upcoming fire season.

Action Required:

STAY CLEAR of burned off areas, for 5 days.
CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS If you are in a smoke affected area.
MOTORISTS SHOULD TAKE CARE, TURN ON HEADLIGHTS AND SLOW DOWN Drive at appropriate speeds when travelling though these areas.
TAKE PRECAUTIONS People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice.
PREPARE ANIMALS that may be affected in the area. It is anticipated that these burns may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit smoke hazards and road closures.
